The Race Around Ireland Staff is composed of several groups. The primary group, which focuses on the race year round, is the Executive Staff and includes Race Director Alan Heary, who is a graduate of DCU and is a performance consultant with national and international Athletes. He has organised many sporting events since 2000 when he first started with a Navan to Galway cycle.
PJ Nolan, who has been much associated with cycling for many years and a former Cycling Ireland President, is the head official with the Race Around Ireland, and brings all his experience to the events.
Joe Roche has worked for many years with Cycling Ireland and designed some of the most breath taking routes for major Irish Cycling events. He is the chief route designer for this project and has outdone himself with the 2100 km route around Ireland.
Joe’s son Emmet, not only works with Joe designing the route but, works year round promoting the race on the internet and local media from around the Country.
Lorraine Lewis works full time as the administrator for the events bringing the skills she used during her years working in the Banking Sector in the City of London, as PA to senior personnel, and organising in-house events for the company. During the race there are dozens of people who help in various capacities from Marshals to Time Station Staff to Headquarters.
