Are you cycling this Event for a Charity or an Organisation, if so which one and why?

Yes, for Jack and Jill foundation which provides direct funding for families of children with brain damage who suffer severe intellectual and physical development delay. These children require intensive home nursing care. I think it is a great charity which obtains most of its funds through donations. Also becauseI love kids and have 13 nephews and nieces.  The website for this charity is http://www.jackandjill.ie/.

How did you hear about the Race Around Ireland?

I crewed last year for Caroline van den Bulk, the Solo ladies winner.

What made you make up your mind to take part in this event?

The fact that doing this event is just part of what I do in my life and what I love. Since taking up cycling I have always loved travelling long distances by bike. I love the sense of adventure, meeting new people, creating friendships, cycling in different countries, new cultures, food, languages, experiences, and all while getting fitter and stronger. Taking part in the RAI is an event for me which epitomises all of what I love in life.

What concerns do you have about the Race Around Ireland?

Nothing. I look forward to the experience.

What are you most looking forward to in the Race Around Ireland?

Having a team of friends look after my every need.

Cycling or athletic history, cycling results etc:

Not much really. I grew up boxing and moved onto running, triathlons, adventure racing etc. I was never fast but have maintained a very high overall varied workload since my teenage years. I cycled in the race around Czech Republic in 2001 which was 688 miles and finished last. However, I feel I am only reaching my peak in cycling now and my best is to come.

Who do you most admire in sport and why?

Nobody stands out for me as there are so many inspirational athletes. I do tend to admire and be inspired by the everyday athlete who with work, family etc. get out there and enjoy it. Meeting up with cyclists on a Sunday morning or tagging along with the varied cyclists I meet on the road and chatting to them. These people I admire and am inspired by.

What is your motto for the Race Around Ireland?

Keep moving, do not waste any time and enjoy it.

Do you have any sponsors helping you with this Event?

No, not yet anyway.
