Are you cycling this Event for a Charity or an Organisation, if so which one and why?

Yes, I am extremely passionate about protecting forests, abating climate change and conserving endangered species and am doing the Race Around Ireland to raise money for Fauna and Flora International – the world’s oldest conservation charity.

If you would like to support their work, you can make a donation click here.

I am also doing the race to raise awareness of a new social enterprise I have recently established called One Planet, One Life that will sell an innovative and high end health drink (currently under development with a university partner). 100% of net profits made will always be invested into carbon reducing ventures or organisations that can best deliver changes in key areas such as deforestation and new emerging areas such as biochar.

Do you have a link to a website you would like us to post on the Race Around Ireland website, to tell people about you and your endeavour?

Yes but currently under development – www.oneplanetonelife.org

The first confirmed charity partner is Fauna and Flora International who carry out pioneering work in areas such as avoided deforestation and biodiversity protection.

How did you hear about the Race Around Ireland?

Cycling magazine in late 2008
I participated in the solo category of RAI in 2009

What made you make up your mind to take part in this event?

I participated in the inaugural RAI in 2009 which was my first ever bicycle race. It proved to be a great learning experience and I am very excited about testing my limits again in 2010.

What concerns do you have about the Race Around Ireland?
Keeping warm during night time temperatures and ensuring proper nutritional intake each hour– this proved to be one of my major show stoppers in 2009.

What are you most looking forward to in the Race Around Ireland?

The amazing scenery, testing my physical and mental limits, cycling at dawn, spending time with close friends, reaching the finish line!

Cycling or athletic history, cycling results etc:

My cycling addiction began in March 2008 when I purchased a touring bike having never cycling longer than 30 miles in a single journey. 3 days later I flew out to Africa and cycled 1500 miles solo from Uganda to Zambia in 4 weeks. Since then, I’ve been hooked on long distance cycling and in 2009 I completed the London Edinburgh London randonee and participated in the inaugural Race Around Ireland.

Who do you most admire in sport and why?

Lance Armstrong – his determination, resilience, never say die attitude and endless dedication to being the best that he possibly can be, both within sport and outside of it, via the Lance Armstrong Foundation.
An amazing athlete and individual.

What is your motto for the Race Around Ireland?

Pedal hard, keep believing, be happy
